Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
As part of Sticky Fingers policy to make sure that its provision meets the needs of each individual child, we take account of any special needs a child may have. Careful discussion with the family and emphasis on what we can offer the child will be discussed thoroughly with parents and staff to ensure we are doing our best. Sticky Fingers works to the requirements of the 1993 Education Act and The Special Educational Needs Code of Practice (2014). We have very experienced staff members who have a wide knowledge and expertise in SEND as well as 2 staff members being SEND champions for Calderdale.
We have worked with various SEND partners over the years, supporting children and families, such as the Rainbow Centre, Early Years Support, portage, paediatricians, physiotherapy, health visitors and behaviour, sleep fairies, Autistic Spectrum Disorder and ADHD Specialists.
Sickness and Medical Information
If your child is unable to attend Sticky Fingers, please advise us on 01422 329494. Please keep your child at home if they have had a bout of sickness or diarrhoea within the last 48 hours, as this helps stop the spread of infection. If your child has Chicken Pox, Scarlett Fever, Measles or Rubella (German Measles) please let Sticky Fingers know and do not bring in your child until the infectious phase has passed. If you are unsure about specific illness, contact the setting for advice.

Allergies / health conditions
We need to know about any medical conditions or allergies/health conditions your child may have. This can be discussed at the home visit and should be written on your registration form, there is a specific section that requests this information. Certain conditions, dietary requirements will need specific forms completing and potentially individual risk assessments carried out. Please discuss this with a member of the staff team if you have any questions. Most of our staff have EpiPen training or will have it going forward, all staff are paediatric first aid trained. We do our best to include children with specific allergies and dietary requirements in all we do by differentiating activities for them where necessary.
